Pat Moffett is an American author, film producer, world-renowned, award-winning business executive in logistics management, and philanthropist, as well as a highly decorated Vietnam veteran. His published works include the critically acclaimed Lucked Out (previously published as Fortunate Soldier), a unique comedic account of his service during the Vietnam War—one of the few humorous narratives about the conflict. He is also the author of Ice Cream in the Cupboard, an internationally embraced memoir detailing his family’s struggle with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. This poignant work has been translated into Spanish and Chinese and was adapted into an award-winning film in 2019 starring Claudia Ferri and Dana Ashbrook, available on Amazon and other platforms.
Pat began his career at just seventeen years old in the bill of lading department for an ocean cargo carrier, igniting his lifelong passion for international trade and logistics. After serving two years in the US Army, including fourteen months in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969, he returned to the business world. He held positions as direct import manager at JCPenney and director of transportation for LaFayette Electronics before joining VOXX International Corp. (formerly Audiovox) in 1980. At VOXX, he served as vice president of global logistics & customs compliance until 2017, playing a pivotal role in shaping the company’s global operations over nearly four decades.
In 1982, Pat founded the Long Island Import-Export Association, where he served as chairman until 2017. The association was established to assist manufacturers, importers, exporters, and start-up companies in expanding their knowledge of international trade. An expert in his field, Pat’s articles and columns have been featured in numerous journals, magazines, and trade publications.
Throughout his illustrious career, Pat has received numerous accolades. He was named among America’s Top 20 Logistics Executives, honored as the Long Island International Business Executive of the Year, and also earned the title Man of the Year by the Columbia Association of U.S. Customs.
Pat’s commitment to humanitarian causes is evidenced by numerous accolades. In 2012, he received the Tikkun Olam Award from the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center for his efforts in repairing the world through community service. His advocacy for Alzheimer’s research and support for caregivers earned him the title Humanitarian of the Year from the Alzheimer’s Association in 2014. Further acknowledging his dedication, he was honored as Person of the Year by the Nassau County Deputy Sheriff’s Association in 2017 and recognized as a Spotlight Caregiver Advocate by the Long Island Alzheimer’s & Dementia Center in 2021.
A lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and the 101st Airborne Division Association, Pat continues to dedicate himself to veteran affairs and humanitarian causes. Throughout his multifaceted career, Pat has remained dedicated to serving others—whether through his military service, his leadership in global logistics, his literary contributions, or his philanthropic endeavors. His life’s work reflects an unwavering commitment to excellence and a profound impact on both local and international communities.
