Can a man have so many jobs while still drawing an unemployment allowance from the government?

One man can; Michael Ronson, the author who, in his own words, “towers over the smelly fiefdom of science fiction like a handsome colossus.”

However, Ronson was not always seen as a very enormous man. Born into a modest middle-class family as a baby, the infant Ronson had none of the awards, credited works, or bodily functions he would become so lauded for. He spent the first two years of his life mastering oral communication, the alphabet and bipedal locomotion (all integral skills for science fiction authors).

Ronson turned into a precocious child who quickly tired of the tawdry pursuits of infants and began looking towards the skies (or, when indoors, ceilings). Writing was calling to Ronson, like a lost cow in a foggy moor. The muse had picked this unassuming genius to be her vessel, and after Ronson was let go from his job in Ryman's over a misunderstanding about some missing stock, Ronson was free to drink during the morning. This naturally led to the penning of his first manifesto, some impressively venomous letters to his local political representatives, and a little story about a man who blows up the Jupiter.

Ronson had found the love of his life. It was prescription painkillers. But selling science fiction stories was a good way to buy his pills, so Ronson began spinning what he called “fantastical tales of spaceships and aliens and whatever.”

Although undeservedly overlooked in his own time, as well as in the past, he has built a steady and rabid following amongst his friends and immediate family, all of whom attest to the quality of his writing. He lives, to this day in an undisclosed location somewhere in the east-west of Scotland where he pursues his twin passions of phrenology and collecting unlicensed firearms.
