Matthew Carr is a writer, broadcaster, journalist and novelist whose work has appeared in The Observer, The Guardian, The New Statesman and on BBC Radio. In 1990 he wrote a memoir about his relationship with his father, 'My Father's House', which was published by Hamish Hamilton to excellent reviews. He is the author of 'Fortress Europe: Inside the War Against Immigration'; 'The Infernal Machine: A History of Terrorism'; 'Sherman's Ghosts: Soldiers, Civilians, and the American Way of War'; Blood and Faith: the Purging of Muslim Spain 1492-1614; 'The Devils of Cardona', 'The Savage Frontier: the Pyrenees in History and the Imagination', and Black Sun arising. He writes a weekly Substack newsletter at: mattcarr.substack.com. He co-hosts the podcast ‘Grim Up North’: a podcast from the North, about the North. He lives in Sheffield with his wife and two cats.
