Current research interests: * The origins, implementation, and organizational and student impacts of performance funding for higher education institutions by state governments. This is part of a larger interest in the use of market and quasi-market forces to regulate public agencies. * The role of information disparities in affecting student outcomes in education: How divergences in student pathways through K-16 education arise from differences by social background in the amount and quality of information students and parents have about the nature and importance of particular educational choices.
