Jessica L. Pérez-Salazar, Esq. is an attorney admitted to practice law in Puerto Rico and Colombia. Since Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, Ms. Pérez-Salazar is also an attorney in the United States and is authorized to practice immigration law throughout the entire country. She holds a Juris Doctor from the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, a Master’s Degree in University-Level Teaching, a Master’s Degree in Human Rights: Protection Systems in Spain, a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, and an Undergraduate Degree in Law and Political Science from the Universidad Santiago de Cali. With more than a decade of professional experience focused on human rights, immigration, and litigation before U.S. immigration courts, she is the founder and principal attorney of MIGRA 411, LLC, a law firm based in Georgia, USA, dedicated to representing individuals in vulnerable situations in complex asylum, removal, custody, and appeals cases. Her professional practice focuses on representing asylum seekers who enter through the border and face deportation proceedings, custody hearings, and litigation before the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). She has collaborated with the Human Rights Clinic of the Universidad Interamericana and the Caribbean Institute for Human Rights in defending the rights of migrants, refugees, women, children, and stateless persons, participating in cases brought before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR). Passionate about teaching and with the goal of one day training new generations of professionals, she combines academic rigor with real-world legal practice, always with an ethical and humanitarian commitment. She believes it is essential for her clients to fully understand the process they are involved in, and therefore takes the time to explain each stage in detail, ensuring they can participate in their own defense in an informed manner. Her book is a reflection of this philosophy, designed to provide clear and accessible knowledge about complex procedures, reaffirming her commitment to understanding and legal education. "El Sistema de Asilo en los Estados Unidos" is her first book, a work aimed at providing clear and accessible information about the complex asylum process, inspired by her years of experience defending those seeking protection and a new opportunity in life.
