Honey Gouge Casey is a debut novelist with a passion for weaving rich, historical narratives that bring the past to life. Drawing on 35 years of researching family archives, genealogical records, and historical documents, her first novel, Whiskey & Ashes, explores the intricate legacy of the Gouge family against the backdrop of Prohibition-era America. With her father's family rooted in East Tennessee for nearly 300 years, Honey was born and raised in Texas, where her father relocated in the 1960s to work with NASA. She now resides in Zavalla, Texas, at the heart of Lake Sam Rayburn and the Angelina National Forest, infusing her storytelling with a deep connection to the landscapes and histories of small-town America. As an active Registered Nurse and current Nursing Director at a community hospital, with a background in critical care, Honey brings a compassionate lens to her narratives. Married to her high school sweetheart, Terry Casey, for 34 years, she comes from a large family of 10 siblings and countless nieces and nephews. When not writing, Honey fosters tourism, economic development, and historic preservation in her hometown through initiatives with her non-profit Zavalla Prairie Community Connections. Honey continues to explore stories that blend heritage, resilience, and the human spirit.
