Recalcitrant scribbler and unversed poet Gerald R. Stanek was born the youngest of six children, at Belfort, NY in 1963. Having attended Beaver River Central School, where his father taught Biology, he narrowly escaped higher education when the school counselor gave him an occupational interest evaluation. This marvel of modern statistical analysis left him with one insight: he was psychologically divergent from the vast majority of students at liberal arts colleges, therefore he should not attend. Taking this advice to heart, he moved to Denver in search of employment. There he found the love of his life, visionary artist Joyce Huntington whose paintings inspired his creative work and spiritual path. Together they owned and operated various picture framing shops. As a student of esoteric teachings from various wisdom traditions, Stanek focuses his writing on the interplay between the mundane and ethereal worlds, and the effect of transcendental experiences on subjective reality. The characters of his novels and stories, such as 'The Road to Shambhala', 'Contact and Other Impressions', and 'Rosa Mundi' seek to be active participants in the expansion of consciousness and the evolution toward a unified humanity. A lexophile, credulous mystic, multi-instrumental musical dilettante, taciturn smatterer, and self-described assembler of notions; in later life Stanek took up painting, adding artless dabbler to the list. A lifelong enthusiasm for bookbinding began when he was unable to find a publisher for his first novel, 'The Eighth House'.
