Dr. Gary Kidney, the author of The Eagle Scout Picture, has had a fascination with World War II since his brothers and uncles told their war stories during his childhood. When he met a man who related an astonishing tale, he promised to publish it upon the man's death. That story became The Eagle Scout Picture. Gary's storytelling blends historical depth, suspense, and emotional realism to draw readers into vivid worlds shaped by courage and humanity. His undergraduate degree in history adds authenticity on every page, creating a gripping World War II historical fiction novel. Fred Brown, a young American Eagle Scout, must navigate the perilous world of espionage in Nazi Germany. Gary's Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing provides a compelling depth to Fred as he struggles to maintain his sense of identity in a culture that prizes conformity, his morals in an amoral society, and the sanctity of his soul in a land long abandoned by God. Before turning to fiction, Dr. Kidney built an accomplished career in higher education and technology. He retired as Deputy Chief Information Officer at Yale University in 2015, after serving at Rice University, the University of Maryland, and the University of Houston–Clear Lake. He has published several articles in history magazines, including two impactful studies on WWII. When he’s not writing, he enjoys exploring history and traveling. He has been in every location used as a setting in his books. His passion is to engage readers with storytelling rooted in truth and courage. You can follow his writing career on Amazon, where you'll soon see The Eagle Scout Picture become a series of espionage novels grounded in the personal sacrifices required to fulfill one's duty.
