Filipa Fonseca Silva was born in 1979 in Barreiro, a small town just across from Lisbon, Portugal. She graduated in Communication from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and worked as a copywriter until 2017. She is now a full-time writer. Her debut novel, Thirty Something – Nothing’s How We Dreamed It Would Be, made her the only Portuguese author to reach the Amazon Top 100 in Women's Fiction. It was followed by The Strange Year of Vanessa M (2013), Things a Mother Discovers (and no one talks about), Amanhece na Cidade (2017), Odeio o Meu Chefe (2018), O Elevator (finalist of Bertrand Book of the Year 2022, already adapted to a short-film), What if I Die Tomorrow? (top 5 Bertrand Book of the Year 2023 , right for film adaptation sold) and Admirável Mundo Verde (June 2024, rights for TV series sold). In May 2025, she launched her first children's book Napoleão, o Camaleão. She likes to write about ordinary people whose stories reveal timeless dilemmas but capture the spirit of our times. Her writing has a cinematographic style, and her 3 latest books are being adapted into film. Filipa is also an activist for the environment and women’s rights, and founded the Women Authors’ Club in 2023, a platform for mutual support between female authors, which aims to promote and celebrate Portuguese Literature written by women (she rebels against the tag Women’s Fiction). She lives in Lisbon, Portugal, with her husband and two children. CRITICS «This book is not just for women, regardless of age, but also for men, who can learn from the pressures that women have always been subjected to» Bárbara Wong, journalist, Público on E Se Eu Morrer Amanhã?/ What if I Die Tomorrow? «These are sublime scenes, “electrifying”, which guarantee that we are in the presence of a true author.» Miguel Real, literary critic, Jornal de Letras, on Admirável Mundo Verde/ Brave Green World   WHAT READERS AND REVIEWERS ARE SAYING: "If you are not familiar with Filipa Fonseca Silva, you need to get to know her. She is very talented and writes one heck of a story." "The characters are rich, their lives completely realistic and human with warts and all. So sorry the story was over!"
