Evelyne Keating retired from forensic nursing after working nearly thirty years as a nurse. She graduated from Villa Julie College with a Bachelors of Science in nursing. She began her nursing career in 1994 at a Level 1 Trauma Center, but most of her nursing career was spent working the night shift in a Baltimore city emergency room. Evelyne held certifications as a pediatric and adolescent/adult forensic nurse examiner (FNE) and the national level of certification through the International Association of Forensic Nurses. She worked as a forensic nurse examiner during the last twelve years of her nursing career. She taught the forensic evaluation of gunshot wounds, the neurobiology of trauma, forensic photography and injury interpretation. She was awarded “Baltimore’s Best Nurse” in women's health. Evelyne currently owns her own company, North Charles Canine LLC, and with her German shepherd, Violet, are the first rodent scent detection K-9 team in Maryland. She is certified through the Department of Agriculture in Integrated Pest Management. In her free time she volunteers with Chesapeake Search Dogs. Working with law enforcement they search for lost or missing people in the vast wilderness. She is on the team with her daughters, Loren and Margaux, and Loren's dog, Peyote, who is certified to find living people and human remains.
