Claudio Aita is an Italian author of historical mysteries and works on medieval history, religion and culture. With a background in the humanities and Church history, he has spent many years studying the medieval world, its institutions, beliefs and everyday life.
He is the author of The Monk Anselmo Mysteries, a series set in early fourteenth-century Italy and featuring Brother Anselmo, a Benedictine monk whose investigations combine observation, scholarship and an inconvenient habit of questioning accepted explanations.
His fiction treats the Middle Ages not as a decorative backdrop, but as a living world that shapes every mystery. The series has found a wide readership in Italy and is now being published in English.
