AMELIA DALTON is an enthusiastic author and storyteller. She has spoken on varying topics throughout the Indian Ocean, Mediterranean, Indonesia, Scotland, Ireland and the Baltic on board many small expedition ships such as those operated by Noble Caledonia and SilverSea as well as The World, Hebridean Princess and river ships of the Danube. She has in depth knowledge of Scotland, Ireland, Norway & The Baltics, the Mediterranean, the Seychelles, Madagascar, the East African coasts, Asia, Borneo, Indonesia & the Spice Isles of the Moluccas, and Central America having lectured and led wildlife-focused groups in all these areas. Of her two books, published by Sandstone Press, Ltd., the first, now in its third reprint, Mistress and Commander, High Jinks, High Seas and Highlanders, recounts her life establishing an expedition ship amongst the wildlife, weather and fishing communities of the remote islands of Scotland’s West Coast including St Kilda. Her second book, Pages from my Passport is a lively memoire of a life devoted to getting people to remote and unusual places whilst battling with scorpions, bombs, chauvinists and unwilling agents: stories of disasters with an occasional triumph whether amongst the islands of Greece, the Red Sea or Madagascar. Amelia has featured on various radio programmes, including the BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Live, the World Service, Radio London & Radio Scotland and has spoken at many book festivals including The Borders, Tobermory, Oundle, Wigtown, Scots in London & Northampton. Amelia is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, has commercial shipping qualifications including certificates for Saving Life & Sea, Fire Fighting & 1st Aid, she was brought up in the Yorkshire Dales & Isles of Scilly where she developed her passionate interest in wildlife and love of nature.
