Shawn and his girlfriend have split amicably although he’s afraid to admit to himself why. A number of his flatmates are openly gay or bi but Shawn has always maintained his “straightness”. When he discovers that Jude, one of his flatmates, makes money web-camming, Shawn can’t help watching and wanting and that could open up a new world of possibilities if he can find the courage. I always love Jay Northcote’s writing, they’re all thoughtful character studies done in a very naturalistic tone, this time with extra D/S steam. Jude is endlessly patient with Shawn who publicly pushes away the very things he privately wants. Audio narrator Lewis Carter only narrates books 4 & 5 in the Housemates series, which is a shame because he has a down-to-earth voice that really suits this author and these characters.
