About this listen

GoodReads Author of the Year 2012, Nominee

Welcome to New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Kristen Ashley's Colorado Mountain Series, where friends become family and everyone deserves a second chance.

Love is the greatest gamble of all...

Nina Sheridan desperately needs a timeout vacation. With a fiancé who can't even remember how she takes her coffee, Nina wants some distance to rethink her engagement. Flying halfway around the world from England to a mountain town in Colorado should do the trick. But when she finds a gorgeous man at her rental cabin, Nina's cold, lonely adventure suddenly heats up.

The owner of the house, Holden "Max" Maxwell is surprised by the beautiful woman who turns up at his door. But when Nina becomes ill, Max spends days nursing her back to health. A private man with a broken heart, Max finds himself drawn to the strong-willed woman. Soon it becomes impossible for Nina and Max to deny their growing attraction to one another. Yet even as these two wounded souls think about taking a chance on a relationship, a secret from Max's past emerges—and threatens to end their love for good.

I enjoyed this book and the narrator did a wonderful job. However the characters in some parts were frustrating, so that's on the author. Such as when Max took away Nina's keys or wouldn't allow her to have a private conversation on the phone. Other examples are when Nina tries to say something to Max and is constantly cut off, finally agreeing to whatever he wants. It's frustrating to think a 36 year old woman can't set boundaries with her family or lover.

Enjoyable but partially frustrating

Great story line and I can't wait to hear or read the following books in the series but the narration of this story was irritating. The English accent and speed was frustrating, to the point I had to laugh or stop listening.
I would HIGHLY recommend the book but not with this narration.

Fantastic story but irritating narration

I read this after reading the second book in the series and fortunately it didn't stuff the story up too much. I like the story line but the English accent was so frustrating to listen to, especially with the pronounciation of certain words (flash is said as flarsh). I will read the rest of the series as the men are definitely worth the imagination.

Terrible English accent

I’ve jumped across to this series, as it was recommended to read prior to the last book in the Rock Chic Series. It was a good story, but going from the Rock Chic Series to this one, I found it hard to get used to the narrator. She does a great job with the male voices and both older & younger female characters; but for the main character she sounded far older than the characters age. Age aside however, it was an engaging story with Kristen Ashley’s usual hunky men, aspiring romances and action filled.

Narrator Selection Questionable, But Good Story

Plenty of drama, emotion, romance, decent descriptive sex sciences, etc etc
Recommend for a chill listen that’s not to heavy. Oh and I loved loved the narrator! I read that a lot of people didn’t but once you get into it, it’s perfect.

Predictably entertaining:)
