The audiobook experience is where this one truly shines. Performed in duet by June deBorahae and Grayson Owens, the narration is sublime. They do not simply read the story, they embody it, delivering every wound, whisper, and tension-soaked exchange with depth, control, and emotion.
Lincoln is pure catnip for listeners who love a tortured billionaire hero: scarred, dangerous, reclusive, and carrying enough trauma to fill the mansion. Imogen absolutely broke my heart, shaped by cruelty yet still holding onto something soft beneath it all.
This is more of a slower-burn setup, carefully building the world, mystery, and power dynamics brick by brick, but I was hooked from the first chapter. And that ending? Rude. Criminal, even. A cliffhanger clearly designed to launch the next book straight into what looks like a miscommunication-fuelled disaster.
For me, this is the gold standard of intro-level dark romance on audio: intense, emotional, well-written, and impossible to stop listening to.
