Jessie Heaton is a fearless, flame-haired computer hacker. Independent and feisty, she’s relied on no one but herself since the age of sixteen.
Working for the Russians, she is finally close to getting the one thing she wants most in life, when she’s stopped in her tracks by the notorious Ryan brothers.
The Ryans are Irish Mafia. They are unstoppable. No one stands in their way. And nothing comes between a Ryan and his family.
That is, until the hurricane that is Jessie crashes into their lives. With a world full of secrets and a past that she can’t outrun, will she be their salvation or their downfall?
Ryan Rule is book one in the New York Ruthless series, a reverse harem, dark mafia romance. It deals with mature themes that may be triggering for some listeners, and it ends on a cliffhanger.

I’ve read the books multiple times but there was something so special about listening to it and finally getting to hear the Ryan brothers speak in their Irish accent (I don’t think I’d mentally prepared myself for how good it was going to be).
I can’t wait for the rest of the series to come out in audiobooks so I can continue to listen to the amazing Ryan brothers . I would 100% recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
My favourite mafia romance

This month’s book club pick wasn’t one I would’ve chosen for myself, and I think that’s exactly why I enjoy being in a book club.
If I had to sum this book up in one sentence it’d be: “Would you like some plot with that spice?” 😂 There is a storyline there, but the romance and spice definitely take centre stage.
The story follows Jesse, a hacker who is still searching for the man who kidnapped her and murdered her family years earlier. Along the way she crosses paths with the Ryan brothers, and what starts as a fight for survival turns into a why choose romance.
While this one wasn’t really my kind of storyline, I can definitely see why readers who enjoy reverse harem romances would have fun with it. For me, it was an enjoyable enough book, but not a series I’ll be continuing.
The voice performances were great. I prefer the duet style over the dual, but they both did well doing the opposite genders voices.
★★★☆☆
******** SPOILERS BELOW ********
Jesse’s backstory was easily the strongest part of the book for me. Surviving two years in captivity and escaping by making a weapon from a wooden hairbrush was brutal and gave her a really compelling reason for wanting revenge.
The mystery surrounding her kidnapper kept me reading, but I did feel like it often took a back seat to the romance.
The reveal that her father was actually alive was a surprise, and ending the book with him taking Jesse away just as the Ryan brothers realised she’d gone was a decent cliffhanger.
Overall, I’m glad I read it for book club, there was nothing wrong with the story, I just prefer fantasy books.
