The story moves pretty quick once Sharla meets Alric (Ric) & Daire & finds out who she really is. There is an intriguing story line that takes a different view on the vampire hidden under all the sex. This will be interesting to see how it plays out. If you're not into lots of sex scenes or MM scenes then this book is not for you. But if you like 'bloody' vampire erotica or RH then highly recommend.
The only thing I wasn't fussed on was the male narrator. A few times I wasn't sure if he was telling the story from Ric or Daire's prospective.

TVQ is one of my favourite series to read, so happy that I’ve finally listened to the first book.

It wouldn't be one of my favourites but this book was enjoyable to listen to as an audiobook. This first book is definitely the building blocks that leads to the next books in the series. I am pretty sure that the next book in the series will be better than this one because the end of this book is much more enjoyable than the start. I was unsure about it at the start because I was having trouble connecting with the book but it does get more action-packed and thought through near the end, indicating that the next book will definitely be more exciting than this first book. This book does end on a cliffhanger that left me with quite a few questions so if this is a series you would like to stick with, then I would definitely recommend you make sure you have access to the next book. I listened to this as an audiobook and loved the narration, both narrators did well with connecting expressions and actions to their voices and I found that it was pretty easy to decipher which character was speaking without it being said. Without having read the next book I am fairly positive that it will be better than the first book, it can be quite hard starting a series when you have created a whole new idea that others aren't aware of yet. I hope that if you enjoy this book, you will read the next. Enjoy!

I'm relatively new to paranormal erotica but this is definitely more like what I was expecting - blood, fluid sexuality, darkness, magic and a monarchy to be brought into submission - Much better than the clean, watered down and romanticised things I've found so far.
As much as this is about the sex, I liked the flow of the plot. The heroine is pulled down a path that she grabs by the balls and makes sure it keeps going. She doesn't simply waft the way her men push her but neither does she fight to hold onto an old path that no longer makes sense.
I have no real issues with the narration but I think this series would have been better done by a single person. There is often an echoing quality to the voices at times too. But like I said, no real issue.

Loved the performance of the voice actors! This was a rather quick listen. Definitely a beginning to the story with lots of spice and insta love (which I don’t mind in a supernatural romance). Definitely a solid beginning to the series.
