Ninety-one years ago, I stumbled upon a window to a strange new world.
Beyond, there were blue skies and odd trees, and flowers like nothing I'd ever seen. Curiosity got the better of me, and life as I knew it changed forever.
Ljómur was the military's best-kept secret. Behind those walls, I was experimented on and studied, torn apart and put back together. Caged, collared, and stripped of any sense of identity I once had.
A lifelong prisoner.
Now I'm free, and my former hell has been destroyed. Every bar that once confined me lies in ruin, yet I still can't escape my cage.
It's been a month since we discovered what the military was trying to do, and since I swore to bring the group to the rifts. Ever since, I've been living in fear of the day they'll call on me to fulfill that promise.
No one knows better than me what's at stake, but most days, my mind is not my own. When I'm lost inside my thoughts, only one person is able to reach me. Reyes breaks through the clouds and pulls me from that dark place in a way the others can't. He tells me I still have something to give, but I'm not so sure that's true.
I'm just a broken thing, after all, and those can't always be fixed.
Nyx is a first-person dual POV MM monster romance series. It is the second in a series that will have an overarching storyline carrying between books. While this series ends with a guaranteed HEA, individual books end on more of an HFN basis. The featured couple's story will be resolved, though there will be some unanswered questions and mild cliffhangers that lead into the next in the series. For mature listeners.
©2025 G. Eilsel (P)2026 Podium AudioThis third Mate’s Mark story was an understandably slower and sadder than the previous ones, dealing with a very traumatised and institutionalised Nyx. While there was some action, the focus was nearly all on the slow-burn romance. In contrast to the feisty Reyes, Nyx was withdrawn, unwilling to say a lot of the things in their head. Once again the overarching story arc was engrossing and it looks like Nyx will play a key part. I also enjoy the ensemble nature of the story as the band of escapee fated mates grows ever larger. 🎧 Voice actors Declan Winters (as Reyes) and Zachary Zaba (as Nyx) were both superb. I admired Declan’s Hispanic accent and Zachary’s soft voicing of Nyx—both really suited their character!
A more tender monster romance!
