A sizzling hot butch/femme age-gap lesbian romance with light BDSM themes by Emily Hayes.

I usually give a new narrator a fair chance, but halfway through I had to stop listening. The performance sounded amateurish at best—like a first day on the job. The narrator initially came across as anxious, and I could clearly hear her breathing, not in a subtle or professional way. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, assuming it might be nerves.

However, at one point she actually got a line wrong, stopped, went backwards, and re-read it. Leaving that in the final recording was jarring and completely unacceptable for a published audiobook.

I’m a big fan of Emily Hayes, which makes this all the more disappointing. Choosing this narrator did the story no favours at all. It stripped the book of its passion, tone, and sensuality. There was no emotion, no depth, and no real connection to the characters—everything felt flat and lifeless.

The story itself had potential, and I likely would have finished it if not for the narration. Unfortunately, the poor delivery made it impossible to stay engaged. If a narrator makes a mistake, it should be edited and corrected professionally—not left in as an obvious blooper.

Overall, this was a very poor narration that completely undermined the story. I genuinely hope future audiobooks from this author are paired with experienced, professional narrators who can do the writing justice.

Unfortunately, the narrator completely killed this story.
