Things seem to good to be true when sub / barista / business student Justin White lands his corporate dream job with grumpy dom Eli Ovadia as one of his bosses. The office nearly combusts with sexual tension as Justin and Eli struggle to keep things professional, but they go off the rails as Justin struggles with wounds from his past which affect Eli and the entire office. I liked this a lot, especially the two leads, but this had a bit of a weird rhythm. Anna Zabo slowly fans the BDSM flames until she has a roaring fire and some really hot scenes, then douses everything in cold water, leaving the guys to slowly put the pieces back together again. It’s never overtly stated, but both men have unresolved PTSD which they need to sort. Voice actor darling Iggy Toma weaves his usual sympathetic magic on the audiobook (the whole series is currently free on the Audible Plus catalogue).

I purchased this audiobook after the excellent first book in the series. While this book has the same solid writing and performance by Iggy Toma. It is just way too into the BDSM scene for my liking. I did persevere though and the onslaught of BDSM action did slow down. The relationship between the MCs is beautiful and intense. A happy ending awaits.

I've listened to this novel about 20 times in the past couple of weeks. Each time I listen I fall more into the characters. The narration fits the personalities.
