Author’s note:

This is not your typical harem story.

If you’ve ever listened to any of my work before, you know that I tend to push the limits of whatever genre I write.

This story is no exception.

In fact, it might be my most extreme effort so far.

It’s rooted in a reality I just discovered, but one I love and will explore in this and other stories.

Make no mistake, though–this story is amazing.

Even to me.

~ Scott ~

I met Heather a few years ago when I began my golf lesson promotion, Sticks and Chicks.

I had no idea when we started working together that it would turn into what it has.

But we make a great team and the sky is the limit.

We’re just getting warmed up.

~ Heather ~

I had no idea what I was doing when Scott first hired me for his golf business.

And he had no idea what he was getting himself into with me.

But we hit it off one thing led to another.

We’ll see where it leads.

This is mostly a relatively banal story about highly paid prostitution. The male lead is a failed golf pro who works as a pimp and the female lead is a nymph-sub "influencer". The harem of the title is really just a cluster of working girls who actually like their pimp.

There are some novel ideas, but they're not really explored in depth. And I guess that's the main problem: it's all very shallow until the last chapter or two, presumably to draw you in for the next book. Characters, too, are shallow, and unlikeable for the most part.

The story itself isn't terrible, but for the most part it's not very interesting either. And while it's billed as a men's fantasy, to me it feels more like a women's fantasy instead; it reads much more like women's erotica than men's. There are some inconsistencies, too, but I suspect most readers/listeners won't care and are here for the spice. This, at least, is relatively frequent, if not particularly compelling.

Writing quality is moderately good for self-published KU, with a number of typical errors and a tendency towards "meaningful nonsense": little hooks and statements that try to be profound, but which don't hold up to analysis.

Audiobook narration is bad. The narrator often sounds less natural than current AI voice models, with no emotion, very poor cadence, frequent mispronunciations, and some of the most unnatural pauses I've ever heard. The pauses are more bearable at higher playback speeds, but it's still not a good experience by any stretch of the imagination. The narrator does attempt mild characterisation in this book, at least, so the dialogue doesn't just run into the prose as it does in the author's "Beach Babes" series, but the near-monotonous mistimed delivery is still strikingly bad at times.

This was a slightly less unpleasant experience than "Beach Babes" (which is the worst audiobook I've listened to), but probably isn't worth your time. I certainly wish I hadn't spent four hours of my life on it.
