The conclusion to the Cat and Mouse Duet is here...

“If she were to die… the world would die with her.”

The worst Adeline Reilly expected for her life were a few unholy ghosts haunting the hallways of Parsons Manor, not falling in love with her stalker and ending up in the clutches of a trafficking ring.

Trapped in a house used to groom women for the elite, she faces the biggest fight of her life—survive the Culling and escape. But that’s not so easy when watchful eyes are determined to see her fail. However, Adeline may have an unlikely ally, who just might be the key to her getting out alive.

But trusting them is a risk that could cost her everything.

Meanwhile, Zade will stop at nothing until Adeline is safe in his arms again, even if he must burn the world to find her. Hunting his little mouse is what he’s best at, but who she’ll be when he finds her is a battle that he doesn’t know he can win.

It won’t be the test of time they must survive, but the memories of who they once were.

Warning: This is the second and final installment to the Duet. You must listen to Haunting Adeline first.

This is not for the faint hearted or anyone with the triggers. It was a great follow on book from the first.

Story line

The story line had me on the edge of my seat the whole time and the voice acting is sensational. This book tore my heart out and ran over it with a steam roller and also embraced it in the warmest hug ever to stitch my chest back together. It’s raw, brutal and gut wrenching but it’s also so full of love and respect and admiration. It made me scream and cry my eyes out with pain but also made my heart swell with love, some parts made me laugh so hard I nearly wet my pants to. I’m absolutely in love with this book and haunting Adeline.

I really liked the first book, it had a good mix of dark and romance but the second book has little romance and focusses too much on Adelines time kidnapped...in very graphic detail...it just felt like it was added for shock value

good performance but lack luster story

**SPOILERS**
This duet had so much potential but IMO three author really missed the mark.

Her experience in the house with the other trafficked girls was horrific. I understand the need to paint a picture of what sex trafficking can really be like however the graphic details of the assaults was very unnecessary. Part one of the book just made me feel sick and I wanted to rush through it.

The reunion was sweet however I expected more from Zade and the couple in general regarding her recovery. It started off promising, he was very patient and did a lot to empower her however in my eyes Zade was no different to her abusers. I can't see how a rape survivor can enjoy being called a whore and being degraded by someone who supposedly loves them. I ended up skipping a lot of the s** scenes because they were just over the top and excessive.

I really wanted to love Zade's character however he was just a giant contradiction. His life's work is dedicated to helping women and children subjected to trafficking and yet he literally forces Adeline to do many things. Also, Adeline's character was incredibly frustrating. She would bait him and then say no. The push and pull was just irritating.

Overall, pretty disappointing and a lot of missed opportunity for a great story. Very little character development, cringey dialogue and some nonsensical outcomes in some situations. Unsure what all the hype is about.

20 hours of my life I will never get back
