Alex is dead.

Dead, and apparently with a one-way ticket to a place that only the worst of the worst go.

All for a simple choice he made about a product his company owned.

Damned for all time.

Luckily for him, he's about to be given a chance.

Another choice to make.

He can return to the land of the living, though his soul would belong to another. Except the world he's being sent to isn't the same one he came from. It's not even a similar period in time, but from something long past in history.

The dark ages.

And part of the deal to live again, is to make pacts with others. Pacts that would bind others in secrecy. That they could never speak of what they'd done.

Deals for anything, and everything. From things as simple as a meal to their very lives. How much would you give of yourself to live on in the world is an easy question.

The better question is, how much would you take from others?

If Alex wants to keep living, to keep his soul from being sent to the darkest corner of hell, he'll have to ask himself that question. '

Daily.

I wasn’t sure about this book, the description didn’t really grab me but it had some really good recommendations so I thought I’d give it a go. I’m glad I did, it’s a great concept and was very engaging with nice spots of humour.
This is also the first time I’ve listed to this narrator, who also had some great recommendations. It’s hard to believe the same person doing all the voices, her range is fantastic. There are half a dozen authors I’ll follow and this is one I’m definitely going to research and follow.

Unique concept

not as good as the others I've gotten to in the Sovereign-verse books but parsnau does an amazing performance.

not as good as the previous books in the universe.

I only got to chapter 10 and DNF, couldn’t bring myself to continue.
I’m honestly shocked at the high rating of this book.
The story really seems to go nowhere, quick. The only real descriptive language is centred on the looks of the women and that’s like 10 words. I don’t really have any idea of the environment etc 10 chapters in. there’s SO much exposition and the MMC is always explaining his thoughts like the reader is 5.
The spice is just so vague and uninteresting. Magically the women are ready and then he does the thing and it’s all over.
I’ve struggled to find a real reason to read this book.

Boring and generic story & spice

found it hard to find any kind of plot in this book. held nothing to keep me interested or invested in continuing to listen. DNF in chapter 12.
taking nothing away from the narrator who did a good job.
