This is a duet so it has a lot of s€x filler in it. There isn’t much of a story it’s just them having s€x all the time and I found myself hitting skip sometimes. Shame.

If you don’t like tropes like dom/sub and dark mafia- this is not your type of book- HOWEVER- for those like me that love that shit- get on this book! I have read and re read the Chicago ruthless books and decided I wanted to go back to the beginning of the ruthless books. Got to LA and loved getting to know these two characters. This is a duet so you have to remember the story goes through to the second book. Mafia stories always have dark themes and the good ones are MMC that are dark and dominating. Nobody wants a sweet softy mafia boss. 🤮no thank you. I love Sadie’s work and I love now reading her earlier ruthless work. If you want a good mafia series- Get on it!!!

Having loved another series by Sadie Kincaid, I decided to try this series.

I found the characters interesting and annoying at the same time. Alejandro seemed to throw mini tantrums while at the same time calling Alana out for doing the same. The way the 'punishments' were handled just seemed a bit off.

I didn't realise it was part of a duet when I picked this book up. I'm not sure if I'll move on to the second book.

I read on Kindle and read along on Audible with good audio.

I'm slackjawed at the non-consensual abusive relationship. he's a misogynist bullying abuser and she is supposedly independent and doesn't suffer fools , but then she accepts anything he throws at her. UGH!! Boring & disturbing. can't believe it got published. I listened for about 45 mins before I couldn't put up with it anymore

The MMC was so awful and misogynistic that I couldn’t listen anymore. I get that he’s meant to be an asshole baddie, but by halfway he hadn’t shown the FMC an ounce of kindness or respect and all he did was have sex with her. Big nope.

Super repetitive. Couldn’t finish. There is no storyline what so ever. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone even those who enjoy spice

The featured relationship is toxic, no consent, not even a verbal agreement to engage in the behaviour, actual fear of “punishment” among many other issues. If those aspects were addressed the storyline is mediocre. Finished on a cliffhanger which would usually have me annoyed anyway and not sure if I’d buy the next book but I don’t think I will with concern that the relationship will be just as toxic in the next book.
