About this listen
Even if the world did end, five men is far too many to handle. Isn’t it?
Since the Final War, I’ve been doing just fine. I have a lovely cave, a darling vegetable patch, forest views . . . and if loneliness sometimes squeezes my aching heart, well, my books have always kept me company.
That is, until a pack of hunters chase me from my home and right into the arms of several rather large, rather brutish ex-Army Rangers. And those brutes have the nerve to make me the rudest offer I’ve ever heard.
Their protection—for my body.
The whole thing is absurd. Scandalous. Perverted, even. I mean, just the thought of doing that with five men, well, it’s . . . it’s . . .
I take the deal.
Okay, so it’s possible I find them indecently tempting. But these men also have secrets, and pasts so fraught with emotion, I’m not sure I can untangle them all. Or whether they’ll let me.
No, my brutes have made it excruciatingly clear where they think I belong—beneath them, between them, bent over backwards for them . . . but certainly not beside them.
And I don’t think that’s going to work for me.
***
The Brutes of Bristlebrook is a dark(ish) post-apocalyptic, steamy reverse harem romance series, meaning Eden will end up with three or more love interests after I’ve appropriately obliterated my readers’ nerves.
Expect complex characters, 1st person present tense, multiple POVs, MM in the harem, angst, lots of laughs, and to encounter material that some readers may find sensitive—a full description of which can be found on my author website.

The narration though… I mean. Come on. They are just all too good at what they do (Teddy and Sebastian are always my favourite) and I LOVE the full cast narration. It really helped with the 🌶️ and also the connections with each character. Now, straight onto book two.

narrators are PHENOMENAL!
I personally really enjoyed the plot! if you aren't into end of the world apocalypse vibes it may not be for you... which let me tell you, that kinda thing isn't usually for me but I really loved this!!
The characters and their relationships are so well described, I fell in love with them all for their unique characters.
3.5 🌶 for me but a gentle introduction to the dom/ sub scene.
Loved it and can't wait to listen to the next one!
Loved this audiobook!

Oh, this book was absolutely incredible.
Dark but not unrealistically so, with good character development and plot.
Whilst the plot is relatively slow-moving, it is more than made up for by how much we learn about our characters and how quickly things move later in the book.
I do wish that the character descriptions were a little more clear. I didn't realise Jasper was probably Korean until the kimchi scene (which was immaculate btw).
Spice was SPICY and oh so good. Cannot WAIT for the second book 😍

I started this as an audiobook on recommendation from a friend, which then turned into binging the audio/reading the eBook wherever I could just to devour the storyline. It had been on my TBR for a few months by the time I started. And let me tell you, from the very first "Survival Tip", I was hooked.
Quinn has created such a unique world, post the Final War. You could tell this dystopian world was very well fleshed out, and I found myself wanting to know absolutely all that I could in regard to Eden and her survival, and the Brutes that she runs into.
Each of the men - Dominic, Jaykob, Jasper, Lucky and Beaumont - are all distinctly unique, bringing their own skills to the mix as well as their own particular... likes... and it is certainly a quintet of men that you can't have one missing.
This is dark, but it serves its purpose. You go through all the emotions, and Quinn balances this well in a way that's not too over the top. You gain fantastic insight into characters, and feel all the emotions with them - and I was very surprised at just how hard I felt some of them. There is humour and banter, heartache and grief. The spice is off the charts, and the chemistry and tension between Eden and her five is so palpable.
I love the injection of the Survival Tips - they help give insight into the direction of each chapter, but are also a good little giggle to help break up the heaviness and the seriousness of the plot.
This first of the trilogy is definitely more about character and relationship development rather than plot development, but that's not to say that the underlying plot doesn't continue throughout the book, setting up for one heck of a cliffhanger.
Amazing story, amazing cast, and phenomenal listen
