Good read and good story line. I didn’t find it catched and kept my attention. It wasn’t a didn’t want to put it down book. But for beginners in dark romance it is a good starting point. Great performance by narrators

Listening to voices that are grating would've meant the end to my first, and any future, audible experience. I'm so glad I loved the voices and story.

This story is a cross between pretty women, Robinhood and Arrow (revenge for those who have done wrkng). It has many elements which crosses lots of boundaries. The teacher student relationship, a parent who would manipulate the system for her sons gain and how the rich and privileged use those in poverty to benefit themselves. It shows the soul destroying affect of poverty, and the vulnerability of those living in poverty and addiction. It shows if you have a dream you can endure almost anything. Although some may find this story triggering, I enjoyed the story.

Many red flags on this one but very good writing and story set-up. Started reading it mainly to see what the TikTok hype was about…kinda get it now. The narrators take some time to get used to but once you catch up on the plot, the voices suit the characters perfectly. Would recommend for someone willing to look past the character flaws.

Wow. I had seen TT reviews on this book but it didn’t prepare me for the beauty that is Emery and Ivory.

The tragedy of her life and the absolute sureness he had in his sexual desires was unparalleled.

This story was haunting and beautiful at the same time. A quote from the book that seems to epitomise this is from Emery, “She’s my music, my place in this life, my part in it all”.

There was also, from Emery, “She’s in my veins, fiery and weightless. She’s in my head, like a whisper of promises. She’s in my heart, softening it, mending it, and making it pump again”.

Ivory had such strength and Emery helped her build on that strength.

I could have read about these two into there 90s without disappointment.

I read on Kindle and read along with Audible. The narration was spot on and really brought Ivory and Emery to life.
