About this listen

Luca 'Bones' Bonetti

My rightful place is at the head of the Bonetti empire. With my father dying, the pressure is on to prove I’m the man he can trust with his legacy. He has but one stipulation. I, Luca Bonetti, certified playboy, must take a wife.

When I find a stunning brunette attempting to steal from me, everything changes. Sweet little thief. She may be beautiful, but she chose the wrong man to mess with. I have two choices. Kill her, or use her to get what I want more than anything.

What I hadn’t bargained for:

Her refusal.

Her little body tempting me at every turn.

Her sassy little mouth.

What she doesn’t realize is the harder she fights, the more it thrills me. I love a challenge. And breaking in my butterfly will be nothing short of exhilarating.

I always love a good mafia kidnap that turns into love!
I really enjoyed her getting revenge on the people that wrong her. Athena healing and having a family really made the book .

I cried and was left feeling so much love! Emotionally conflicting and I loved it

I enjoyed this performance from Amanda Willow and Joe Arden.

Please check triggers.

The past trauma that the Athena had experienced was absolutely horrible. A man like Luca is the only person that could help save her and inflict Justice. Meeting Athena changed Luca’s life forever.

Joe Arden is fantastic as usual and it was a great love story.
Where it felt a little flat for me was the narration for Athena, especially at the beginning of the story. Joe gave such an intense and raw energy as Bones from start to finish, and Amanda did not match it. However once she narrated through the extreme emotional parts for her character, Amanda did a fantastic and believable job.
The editing was sometimes cut too close together when either Joe or Amanda added their lines during each others narration, This made the story not flow nicely as the necessary pauses between the characters lines were not there to create the right mood. And because of that, you could tell they recorded their lines in different studios.
But aside from that, I did love Luca's and Athena's story. Great job. ❤️

Amazing narration by Joe Arden

I enjoyed and didn't. The narrators were brilliant.. the story was okay.
It was probably more about me, but I didn't find Luca all that dark - after the trigger warnings, I was expecting more - but he flipped pretty quickly and became an almost slobbering golden retriever towards Athena. It made me actually not respecting him as much - don't get me wrong - I love spice but I get a little sick of the men becoming weak protagonists who can't survive without their partners' p##sy.
I am a dark romance/traumance lover and like my MMC's dark, I don't mind if they have some character growth but I just felt Luca's was so fast that I couldn't get on board. It seems he developed a conscious too quickly, and that he was more in lust than love - I didn't feel they were really connected as lovers. Athena has a tough time, and I did like that the author included therapy on page, as so often I read books where the character desperately needs it but doesn't get it. So that was a nice addition. I did also find her annoying, though....

Ultimately (for me) I couldn't on board with the relationship - it was a Speed moment for me - relationships developed under stress and trauma never last and are more lust than love. I am keen to see future books in the series as the brothers intrigue me, especially Psycho and Reaper.

I'd give it a 3.5 if I could, but Audible doesn't do 1/2 stars.
