This was my first Shain Rose book, and I can confidently say I’ll be adding all of her work to my TBR.

The story follows a fiercely protective single dad and his daughter’s summer school teacher, blending elements of mafia, secret societies, and forced proximity. I loved the characters and the way they navigated their past traumas and deep-rooted trust issues, all while building undeniable chemistry. The tension between knowing they shouldn’t cross the line—and being unable to resist—made their dynamic even more compelling.

The slow burn builds with delicious anticipation before erupting into an intense mix of passion and obsession. And that plot twist? It had me absolutely reeling 😮‍💨

I was hooked from the get go. This story was action packed, most of the action was between the grumpy head of the Diamond Syndicate, Jameson and his daughter's teacher Mia. Mia is one fiesty woman. I couldn't help but admire her standing her ground against Jameson. She is held against her will, but Jameson would argue he is protecting her. I think she stayed because of what she hears from her bedroom. It sure is spicy. The narrators gave marvellous performances that were entertaining and enhanced my enjoyment of the story.

I have read hundreds mafia/secret society romances and I was starting to wonder if I had exhausted my interest in them. My average ratings have beem floating around 3-3.5 stars, and I don't think I have ever given a 5 star rating. The closest has been 4.5 stars. Until now. For me, this book was perfection! 5 ⭐️

I have nothing negative to say about it, other than I wanted MORE, so much more. I wanted it to go on and on!

The story took off from the first few pages and nothing was lacking from beginning to end. The pace, the tension, the heat, the raw OTT posessiveness of the MMC . . . chef's kiss.

The narators did an incredible job - especially James Cassidy's portrayal of Jameson. I highly recommend the audio version. I now I have to go buy a physical copy!

Thank you Shain Rose for reigniting my love of this genre. This was my first read of yours and, needless to say, I'm about to go devour everything else you have written! 😉
