About this listen
Mateo Esposito loves his job. Hired assassin for the US Government, he takes lives and he kicks ass with no mercy. When a job lands in his lap that's just not quite right, Mateo finds himself questioning orders for the first time in his career. Who would have known he'd be undone by a purple hippo.... Riley Flynn is CEO of Flynn Electronics. Deep in his closet, Riley wonders what it would feel like to be with a man. When his path crosses with Mateo's, their lives will never be the same. Because Riley is Mateo's next target....
©2012 Sandrine Gasq-Dion (P)2016 Sandrine Gasq-DionDespite being the first in the ‘Assassin / Shifter’ series, it was confusing that there were no shifters! I‘m guessing the audiobook narrated by Greg Boudreaux is based on the revised edition of this book, because I didn’t encounter the same errors that early reviewers did. That’s not to say this doesn’t have some bumpy writing. Matteo and Riley basically fall into instalove during two anonymous sex encounters, which seems a stretch. The likelihood that Matteo would then be assigned to kill Riley is an even bigger stretch. This is a shorter novel (214 pp) so all the action, numerous sex scenes, and plot twists felt rushed. Having said all that, I didn’t hate the bumpy ride, but I won’t chase up the rest of the series.
A bumpy but steamy ride!
