    May 23 2024

Welcome to Rock and Roll Flashback! During the 1950's there were numerous Rock and Roll artists, which included bands, vocal groups, solo and duo artists. I'm Bill Price, and in this edition of the Rock Duos of the 1950's series, I will feature vocalists Skip and Flip and the instrumental duo Santo and Johnny. Both of these artists achieved brief success, but only one duo moved on to other groups and music production.

  • Dusty Springfield
    May 21 2024

Greetings, fellow time travelers, and welcome to Rock and Roll Flashback! I'm Jumpin' John, and in this episode I will discuss the career of the woman who, I would argue, was perhaps the finest white soul singer of her era! I'm referring to the great British singing icon, Dusty Springfield! So sit back and have a listen as we flash back in time in this edition of Rock and Roll Flashback!
During her 1960's peak, with her trademark peroxide blonde beehive hairdo, heavy makeup and eyeliner, evening gowns, and flamboyant performances, Dusty Springfield was an icon of the Swinging Sixties. From 1963 to 1989 Dusty ranked among the most successful British female performers on both sides of the Atlantic with 6 top 20 singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and 16 top 20 singles on the U.K. Singles Chart. Several international polls have named Dusty Springfield among the best female rock artists of all time.

  • One Hit Wonders: Ketty Lester & Kathy Young
    May 11 2024

Welcome to Rock and Roll Flashback! Throughout the '50's and '60's, there were numerous Rock and Roll bands, vocal groups and solo artists. Many went on to have successful music careers, but unfortunately for others, lasting popularity did not always materialize. Some groups managed to achieve brief recognition, sometimes with just one hit, only to vanish from the music scene. A few managed to achieve some success, but only regionally, never quite gaining significant national attention. Those artists have come to be known as One Hit Wonders. During the 1950's and 1960's several artists attained that label.
I'm Bill Price and in this edition of One Hit Wonders, I will focus on two solo artists of the early 1960's, Ketty Lester and Kathy Young.

Welcome to Rock and Roll Flashback! I'm Jumpin' John, and the story of my life revolves around the wonderful relationship that I had with the love of my life: Sally Lehman McDermott. This particular podcast is going to be highly personal. Honestly, it is primarily intended for Sally's family and friends and not really for the general listening audience.

Music has the mysterious power to trigger deep emotions and re-awaken memories. In the My Musical Memories series here on Rock and Roll Flashback Podcasts I will explore the various ways that music was an integral part of my life with my best friend and soul mate, Sally. In today's podcast, Sally, My Love - My Musical Memories, Part 3 (abbreviated M-M-M-3), I will explain my thought process for including music at the Celebration of the Life of Sally Lehman McDermott.
