Chris Johnson and Carson Rekert on Writing a Screenplay, Trusting Each Other, Giving Constructive Criticism and Sharing Inspiration

  • Summary

  • Alex and Karen welcome back Chris Johnson, their first returning interviewee (S1, E5), and his writing partner Carson Rekert to talk about their current collaboration on a horror movie screenplay, as well as their many experiences together as friends, coworkers, and roommates. Chris and Carson get into their collaboration style; their trust in one another; and how they’ve been able to stay invested in the project for 5+ years, even through huge life changes like Carson becoming a father. They also share how their love of music is incorporated into their movie writing, and how even bad movies can serve as inspiration.
