Publisher's Summary

"The Young Bucks are two guys who not only beat the odds to become one of the greatest, most popular tag teams ever, but also two industry changing visionaries. Matt and Nick are two of the smartest, hard-working, passionate individuals I’ve met during my 28 year career. With the creation of AEW, The Bucks will definitely leave the pro wrestling industry in a much better place then they discovered it in." (Matt Hardy, multiple-time world tag team champion)

The electric and daring independent wrestling tag team tells their inspiring story, revealing how two undersized, ambitious amateur athletes from Southern California became the idols of millions of popular sports fans and coveted among the ranks of AEW’s elite wrestling lineup.

Famous for their highflying moves, Superkicks and viral videos, Matt and Nick Jackson are two of the hottest and most talented competitors in professional wrestling today. Known as the Young Bucks, this pair of ambitious brothers are an inspiration to both fans and aspiring wrestlers worldwide due to their message of resilience and determination. That they are also faithful family men devoted to their loved ones gives them additional appeal.

A warm, heartfelt story of hope, perseverance, and undying ambition told with the brothers’ wit and charm, Young Bucks begins in Southern California, where two young boys grew up dreaming of success and fame. Matt and Nick look back on the sacrifices they made to achieve their ambitions, from taking odd jobs to pay for their own wrestling ring to hosting backyard events with friends. They share their joy at being recruited into the amateur California circuit and the work it took to finally make it professionally, and speak frankly about what it means to have the support of millions of fans cheering their talents in arenas nationwide. The Young Bucks talk endearingly about their sport, their faith, and their families, sharing personal reflections and behind-the-scenes anecdotes while paying tribute to the wrestling acts and inspirations that came before them. They also elaborate on this historical time in the evolution of wrestling, as the sport and its culture dramatically change day by day.

Alternating between each brother’s perspective from chapter to chapter, this entertaining memoir is a complete portrait of what it means to grow into - and give back to - wrestling, the sport and profession they embody and love.

Great book!

The book itself was amazing!!!! It’s a shame the guy reading clearly has never watched wrestling or know nothing of that scene. Miss pronunciation of names and factions and tags just shows.

Absolutely phenomenal

I finished this book in 2 days. It was so hard to put down! I swapped between reading on my kindle to listening to the audio book when doing housework because i couldnt get enough. What a brilliant insight into their career. I especially loved the last chapter, hearing about the beginning of AEW. I have gained even more respect for Matt and Nick after reading about all the hard work they have put in to get to where they are today, they have earned every success to come their way. congratulations to them both.

Must listen for wrestling fans

Quite possibly the most entertaining wrestling biography I can remember reading or listening to. It's essential listening for any fan of wrestling. Not read by the bucks as others have stated, but don't let that worry you. Roger Wayne does a great job narrating. He mispronounced a few terms, sure, but I think some of the other reviews blow this out of proportion. Just sit back and enjoy this rare gem of a wrestling tale.

Awesome and highly recommend

Great stories from start to end about the journey the young bucks went through, a truly emotional rollercoaster with it's ups and downs that ultimately come full circle to a happy ending/present. The narrating is also great and very expressive. It's also a good read for both wrestling and non wrestling fans as it goes into detail explaining the wrestling jargon and moves to the uninitiated

Not narrated by the Bucks

I wouldn’t have bought this if I knew it was just a random narrator, but the book itself is excellent

This audio book is........... Meh. It's OK.

I should start by saying that I'm not really a fan of the Young Bucks. I watch AEW. I was familiar with them before AEW began. But I don't really like the way they come across. I still have 2 hours left of this audio book, but I felt inclined to leave a review. I will still finish the book.

JR's two books really set the benchmark for me, for wrestling autobiographies. These guys (the Bucks) are of a completely different time though. I thought it would be worth a listen, since not only is it the hot wrestling book at the moment, but I knew these guys had done a lot of travelling and met a lot of interesting characters. So I was keen to hear about it.

The first thing I'll mention is the narrator. While he does a fine job for the most part, he obviously has no idea what he's talking about and does not know how to pronounce the names of the wrestlers, the promotions, the moves and so on. That's fine, but when you're listening to him for almost 10 hours it does become a little annoying. Especially when he goes through a period of a few minutes where he does it several times.

My second gripe with the book is the constant switching back and forth between Matt and Nick. If you are listening to the book at the same time as doing something else, it's quite easy to miss the name before the chapter and then you have no idea who wrote the chapter you are listening to.

I still think this is worth a listen. If you're a wrestling fan anyway. But let's be honest, nobody is reading this book if they aren't a fan of wrestling. So when the book goes out of it's way to explain things like what Wrestlemania is, you just think come on...

With all of that said, it can be an interesting listen. I found it fun listening to their stories of their time in Japan, in TNA, WWE tryouts etc, and even before all of that when they were kids. I'm looking forward to hearing about the beginning of AEW, towards the end of the book. But I don't think it will be anything I haven't heard already at this point.

So if you have nothing else to read or listen to; Give it a go. I don't think you'll hate it. Just don't expect anything amazing.

Part Interesting Part Melodramatic

First world problems from top teir wrestlers, it's hard to have sympathy from people who complains so much about have to work a menial job. However their stories about independent wrestling and Japanese wrestling is what carries this audiobook.
