Sixteen-year-old Lex Bartleby is a teenage grim reaper with the bizarre ability to Damn souls. That makes her pretty scary, even to fellow Grims. But after inadvertently transferring her ability to Zara, a murderous outlaw, Lex is a pariah in Croak, the little town she calls home. To escape the townspeople’s wrath, she and her friends embark on a wild road trip to DeMyse. Though this sparkling desert oasis is full of luxuries and amusements, it feels like a prison to Lex. Her best chance at escape would be to stop Zara once and for all - but how can she do that from DeMyse, where the Grims seem mysteriously oblivious to Zara’s killing spree?

Yes, it's fun to read this series.
Being the last book in the series I was of course, quite upset.... but it was a good ending overall.
Great series - read these books.
"No Progress With The Story"
Hmm, I'm not really sure how I feel about this book. I just finished it a few minutes ago. I'm now sitting here, wondering how I really feel about it. I figured the story wouldn't end. Just like book 1, it's left at a cliff hanger and you must buy book 3 to get any closure. But I expected that. What I didn't expect was for there to be no moving forward in the story line. It's hard to explain without giving spoilers.
I didn't like that there was so much jumping around, literally. They're in one place, then another, then another, over and over. There were several times when I thought I may have zoned out during the audiobook and missed a chunk of book. Also, there's no time given. Has it been an hour, a day, or a whole week? With as much jumping from place to place, it's hard to tell the time.
And honestly, the ending just got stupid. The first part of the book was fine. The second, with all the jumping and characters, new gifts, new beings, deaths, etc. it just got so jangled that it was stupid.
Also, what's the point of being "special" with the rare ability to "damn" if anyone can just easily take it (or copy your power with a touch and then use it themselves?) Which leads me to also wonder......why are scythes so readily available? The reapers have their very own scythe, made just for them. So why are they a dime a dozen and can be taken and used by any reaper?
So I will give this audiobook 3 stars. The narrator was spot on again. I will go ahead and buy book 3, just for closure and to feel like I haven't wasted my money on the first 2. (If I didn't already have money sunk into the first 2 books, I would not continue with the series.)
"AHHHHHHHHHH! When does book 3 come out???"
Oh all of it. I just love the Juniors. And that Gina Damico. She is the best. Such a clever writer. I'm so glad I stumbled onto this series!
Pip. SOOOO adorable!
The ending of course. Talk about a cliffhanger!
You must read these books ASAP. They are smart, sassy, and splendid.
I will definitely rerun this book because the story was quite captivating. Plus, I love going back to see if I can find clues I missed prior.
Any this book holds up to any other Grimm tales that I have read. It was kind of nice to see this from a female's perspective, rather than, the usual male.
My favorite character is still Uncle Mort. Close second, Driggs
Easy to get engulfed in the story.
"A great sequel"
Already have - An engaging story with a fun and witty MC.
The description of the city Necropolis. I had a good giggle over that.
It kept my attention, but it is a young adult book that this older adult found a little juvenile. The end was a bit depressing as well.
Multiple plot holes.
"Not for 12 and up!!"
On Amazon, this book is listed for "12 and up". I gave my 12-year-old granddaughter the first book in the series (after listening to it via Audible) and wanted to listen to this one to make sure it was okay for her. Let me say clearly that this book is *NOT* for 12 and up - unless you want your 12-year-old reading about a young woman looking forward to "riding the big salami", and all the ways she and her boyfriend try to hook-up behind her uncle's back.
Other than that, I enjoyed the book. It had a little less teenage angst than Croak, and as an adult I did enjoy the many ways they tried to hook-up. I was interested enough in the story that I wanted to read the next book in the series.
Good continuation to the series. The story was captivating, the ending was such that you really do want to read book 3.
"Love this series!!!!! So much Fun!!!"
The characters and the voices are to die for! Very entertaining and way way fun!
"Enjoyable story and entertaining narration"
I'am enjoying this story a lot and Mrs Almasy's narration is very entertaining. I look forward to hearing more of the series
"Over all a good listen"
The story is just a continuation of the plot in the first book, I feel I could have been condense and added as a part of the first book. However it's still a good listen and has interesting yet some what predictable plot twist. All in all I would recommend it to someone and I am exited to listen to the third book. Also the narrator dose a great job making each character there own.
This is Book 2 in the series Lex is in trouble what with her burgeoning powers, an angry scared town of Croak, and a very dangerous Zara.
Much in the same vain as the first book but the situation is running to desperate if Lex is to solve the puzzle, and face Zara.
Lots of tongue in cheek humor, love and action, again a keeper. The characters are the strength of the book an easy entertaining listen. Only whinge is it stops again on a cliffhanger!
