Story
Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret - at least, that’s what she thinks.... But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well...she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth....

Publisher's Summary
The number one New York Times best-selling series is back with a vengeance!
The world's greatest teen spy is back in action in a thrilling new mission: destroy once and for all the terrorist organisation SCORPIA. Following the events of Scorpia Rising, Alex relocates to San Francisco as he slowly recovers from the tragic death of his best friend and caregiver, Jack Starbright, at the hands of terrorists working for SCORPIA.
With Jack gone, Alex feels lost and alone, but then, out of the blue, he receives a cryptic email - just three words long, but enough to make Alex believe that Jack may be alive. Armed with this shred of hope, Alex boards a flight bound for Egypt and embarks on a dubious quest to track Jack down.
Yet SCORPIA knows Alex's weakness. And the question of whether Jack is alive soon takes a backseat to a chilling new terrorist plot - one that will determine the lives of many. From Egypt to France to Wales, from luxury yachts to abandoned coal mines, Alex traverses a minefield of dangers and cryptic clues as he fights to discover the truth.

Good old fashion Spy v Villian story
Horowitz really captures the spirit of Flemming in everything he touches and the Alex Rider series is no exception.
Following the disasters that were Snakehead & Crocodiles Tears, Scorpia Rises left the Alex Rider series at a perfectly neat conclusion. Unfortunately, rather than an Eagle Strike or a Scorpia we are once again treated to a no reason sequel in the vain of keeping Alex Rider in the game.
The story is a generic bond-esq/agent gone rouge story (or as rouge as "always good guy" Alex Rider can go) that, whilst paced well, peaks 3/4 in and fails to deliver on its heavily hinted at plot twist.
***Spoiler*** The ending of this story really summaries Never Say Dies existence, as it is clearly seting the scene for what the future of the Alex Rider series. There is a moment at the end when you can physically hear the Jason Bourne theme playing in your mind.
Whilst the book as a whole is enjoyable, as an entry in the series it feels unnecessary. I'm glad to see Alex Rider back doing what he does best, however, I wish this was the story Horowitz sets up at the end of Never Say Die.

Good but weak for Alex Rider
Enjoyable, entertaining and easy to finish although I would rank this as being one of the worst / weakest in the Alex Rider series in both story and narration

Great page turner
Another great chapter in the life of a young, reluctant spy. In the very best tradition of the action spy genre

Good story ruined by voice acting
what's with the voiceline while chewing? I am sure those were completely unnecessary. That and a number of lines near the end making it difficult to tell who said what

Good book but delivery needs to be checked
Jack Starbright is American, not British, as delivered in this audio to keep with consistency
