Story
Overmedicated, overfed, and malnourished, most Americans fail to realize the answer to lower disease rates doesn't lie in more pills but in the foods we eat. With so much misleading nutritional information regarded as common knowledge, from "everything in moderation" to "avoid carbs", the average American is ill-equipped to recognize the deadly force of abundant, cheap, unhealthy food options that not only offer no nutritional benefits but actually bring on disease.

Story
Perfectionism is a naturally limiting mindset. For example, kids are taught to color inside the lines, and any color outside the lines is considered a mistake that must be corrected. Imperfectionism frees us to live outside the lines, where possibilities are infinite, mistakes are allowed, and self-judgment is minimal.

Story
In Own Your Health, Glen narrates his own journey to health, tells the stories of how his parents saved each other’s lives and how his wife Joanna overcame lupus, explains why the science of nutrition is more settled than you think, suggests the best way to deal with doctors, takes on some leading historic opponents of the plant-based diet, blows apart the silly and misguided attacks on “carbs,” and gives us an action plan to reverse the epidemics of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease, while obliterating demand for the kind of food-raising that risks future pandemics.
Publisher's Summary
Eric was 150 pounds overweight, depressed, and sick. After a lifetime of failed diet attempts and the onset of type 2 diabetes due to his weight, Eric went to a new doctor, who surprisingly prescribed a shelter dog. And that's when Eric met Peety: an overweight, middle-aged, and forgotten dog who, like Eric, had seen better days. The two adopted each other and began an incredible journey together, forming a bond of unconditional love that forever changed their lives. Over the next year, just by going on walks, playing together, and eating plant-based foods, Eric lost 150 pounds, and Peety lost 25. As a result, Eric reversed his diabetes, got off all medication, and became happy and healthy for the first time in his life - eventually reconnecting with and marrying his high school sweetheart.
Walking with Peety is for anyone who is ready to make a change in his or her life and for everyone who knows the joy, love, and hope that dogs can bring. This is more than a tale of mutual rescue. This is an epic story of friendship and strength.

Loved it! Inspiring!
This is my first written review and my first 5 star rating! I usually just ‘star’ my reviews.
First of all, this is a true life journey of one man in the quest for good health and longevity.
If you love dogs and are interested in a plant based diet- this book is for you. I was a little worried early on in the book when he was ‘enlightened and found God’ but luckily for me, the book stayed on track and didn’t get into it much at all.

Heartwarming, heartbreaking, soul healing
What a lovely, lovely book. Such a joyous story of a rescue dog who is rescued, and also does the rescuing of his human. A fantastic story of dog-human love, and plant-based (vegan) eating. I will definitely listen again.
