Story
After 10 years together, Carrie Nolan is devastated when she's dumped by Kevin Mulvey without even a backwards glance! But on reflection, she has sacrificed her own long-term happiness by pandering to his excessive ego in their successful Dublin restaurant (and out of it) - but not anymore! While Kevin is 'living the dream' with his beautiful new Brazilian girlfriend, Carrie seeks solace from a circle of mismatched strangers who need her as much as she needs them. Then suddenly a catastrophic sequence of events leads to the unthinkable.

Story
Amanda King and Tess Cuffe are strangers who share the same Georgian house, but their lives couldn't be more different. Amanda seems to have it all, absolute perfection. She projects all the accoutrements of a lady who lunches. Sadly, the reality is a soulless home, an unfaithful husband and a very lonely heart. By comparison, in the basement flat, unwanted tenant Tess has spent a lifetime hiding and shutting her heart to love. It takes a bossy doctor, a handsome gardener, a pushy teenager and an abandoned cat to show these two women that sometimes letting go is the first step to moving forward and new friendships can come from the most unlikely situations.

Story
Dolly Jamieson is not homeless, she's merely between permanent abodes. The 78-year-old spends her days keeping warm at the local library, where she enjoys sparring with the officious head librarian and helping herself to the free morning tea. It's not so bad, really. But it's certainly a far cry from the 1960s, when this humble girl from Geelong became an international star of the stage. As the acclaimed lead in the Broadway production of The Rose of France, all Dolly's dreams had come true. So how, in her old age, did she end up here?

Publisher's Summary
A thoughtful, captivating and ultimately uplifting novel from this uniquely talented author. Jasmine loves two things: her sister and her work. And when her work is taken away she has no idea who she is. Matt loves two things: his family and the booze. Without them, he hits rock bottom. One New Year's Eve, two people's paths collide. Both have time on their hands; both are at a crossroads. But as the year unfolds, through moonlit nights and suburban days, an unlikely friendship slowly starts to blossom. Sometimes you have to stop still in order to move on. Original and poignant, The Year I Met You will make you laugh, cry and celebrate life.

GOOD BOOK
Narrated really well although it took a lot for me to get into this one. Would try another Cecelia Ahern book though.

Beautiful
This is such a lovely book. The delightfully flawed characters are very endearing and the relationships and storyline are interesting and detailed. This book is a cross between chick lit and novel - easy to absorb but still retains depth and interest. Very enjoyable.

Not her best
The main character's description of everything she's doing, and I mean EVERYTHING, is tiresome. There's not really much of a plot either. I would steer clear. I read "The Marble Collector" a little while ago and found it much more enjoyable.

Not her best
I love Cecelia Ahearns novels but this one is not great. The end moral is great but the way it was written was frustrating. The narrator is ok but you can often hear her mouth getting dry and she has a monotone quite often.
