Publisher's Summary

Brand new from the best-selling author of The Village Shop for Lonely Hearts.

Scandal hit party girl Lucy Conway needs to leave London fast, so she packs her bags and escapes to the sleepy village of Cranbridge to take care of her beloved Uncle Frank.

But the country village isn’t quite as idyllic as she remembers. To make matters worse, her uncle’s pride and joy, The Cranbridge Times, is close to going out of business.

Editor-at-large Tom Addison is having a crisis of confidence and needs help if the newspaper is going to survive.

With time on her hands, can Lucy work some magic and together save the family newspaper?

Over a long, hot summer, friendships are made and hearts begin to heal. And, with the help of a stray dog, perhaps Lucy and Tom can find their very own new beginning....

Sweet

Completely predictable but that’s why you listen! Excellent for cleaning, gardening and nodding off! Helen Keeley is a soothing presence with her lovely gentle tone.

Beautiful and Charming

Have read the first and am looking to the next. Beautifully written with a lovely story to put a smile on your face. Love the narrator… and the essence of how important true friends really are

Peaceful listen

Enjoyed book 1 but book 2 was the same basic story line. It was good expanding the story line with same town n a lot of same characters, but same story ( in reverse) was not good idea.

Postman Pat for Grownups.

Right. I’ll come right out and say it. This series is girly and feminine, and as a bloke I’m really enjoying it. I don’t live in the UK. I’m in Australia, and there is part of me that yearns for an old country village. The plots of these books are totally predictable, which means you can enjoy every unfolding moment. The book series really does remind me of the kids TV show ‘Postman Pat,’ except the books have kissing. I think this is what you call a “rainy read.” I gave it a 4/5 for story because Alison consistently uses the construction, “said X” instead of “X said,” and she also uses “on a daily basis” a lot. Alison, if you’re reading this, very, very well done!

Ending ruined

Superb voiceover but ending ruined by bullying behavior of small town folks because they did not approve who the man was hooking up with. Made me switch from thinking cozy and warm things about small towns to how they shun those they don’t like or who are different from them.

Formulaic but cosy

Very formulaic series so far (this is book 2) but it’s a kind of homely series, perfect for listening to when you want something light hearted.

Predictable

The story line in this series of books repeats itself for each tittle. Perfect if you don’t want any surprises but I couldn’t help hoping for a break from formula.
