Publisher's Summary

A hot vet. A rebellious teenager. And meddling but well-meaning townsfolk. Vera gets more than she bargains for when she runs off to a new life in the country....

A fresh and funny rural romance, perfect for listeners of Alissa Callen and Rachael Johns.

Vera De Rossi no longer believes in love....

And thanks to her ex-boyfriend, she's also broke, jobless, and staring down the barrel of a court case that could land her in prison. Turning to her talent for baking, Vera opens a cafe in Hanrahan, a cozy tourist town in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains.

Josh Cody, once Hanrahan's golden boy, escaped 16 years ago with gossip hard on his heels and a pregnant girlfriend in tow. Now he's back: a qualified veterinarian - and a single dad with a lot to prove. A new start and a grumpy teenage daughter...it's a lot to juggle, and there's no room in his life for further complications. But that's before he walks into The Billy Button Cafe and meets its prickly owner....

Reeling from the past, Vera has no intention of being sidetracked by the hot vet with a killer smile. But fate has a way of tripping up our best intentions and between a stray cat and a busybody with a heart of gold, this is a town - a family - unlike any other. And, whether Vera wants it or not, is there anything a family won't do to help one of its own?

Praise:

"The perfect feel-good blend of warmth, wit and small-town charm. This debut will leave you smiling." (Alissa Callen best-selling author of Snowy Mountains Daughter)

You Do Not Want To Miss Out On This Absolute Gem

This is such a beautifully written AND read story that is tremendously hard to stop listening to/put down.
Anyone who loves a good romance story with it’s fair share of laughs and tears needs this book in their lives.
It ends so wonderfully but gosh I would just love this to be the first book of an entire series. I didn’t want it to end. The characters feel more like friends and family rather than purely beings of a fictional world. I want to know more, more, more please!
Fiona Macleod is beyond talented with her change in voices for each character, her pace of reading to help set each scene accordingly and her clear love of reading the story itself. This, together with how gorgeously written this heart-warming story by the very clever Stella Quinn is, is an absolute dream combination and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
I truly hope this is just the beginning of this duo that has brought so much joy to me and I’m sure, many others. Thank you, thank you, thank you xxxx

Wonderful book!

Australian fiction normally leaves me a bit "meh" but this was written and spoken so genuinely it hit a chord and I was drawn in. Normally I feel a bit of cultural cringe when I listen to an Aussie narrator but this was wonderful! Can't wait for your next book!!

An Enjoyable Aussie Fiction

The Vet From Snowy River was an easy & enjoyable listen. there are a few 'holes' left unanswered around the clinic fire that are not referenced again, unless these are picked up in the following book perhaps?
Overall it had likeable characters & the town busy body was good not evil for a refreshing change to other Australian Fiction Romance novels.
Well worth a listen with wonderful narration.

Loved the large personalities

I can't pick a favourite ... there were so many to love ... with so much to offer, I loved this book from beginning to end

It was easy to get invested in Vera and Josh's story, while cheering on those around them

Would love to see Hannah get her happy ending next

A wonderful story, I was sad when it ended as I wanted to stay with them a bit longer

great story. detailed characters

such amazing detail to the characters. I think everyone needs a Josh Cody and a Poppy in their lives. such pureness to them. was fun hearing real places mixed in with the fictional ones where the story is based. interesting storyline that touches on many real life situations.
