Publisher's Summary

Welcome to The Slaughtered Lamb Bookstore and Bar. I'm Sam Quinn, the werewolf book nerd in charge. I run my business by one simple rule: Everyone needs a good book and a stiff drink, be they vampire, wicche, demon, or fae. No wolves, though. Ever.

I serve the supernatural community of San Francisco. We've been having some problems lately. Okay, I'm the one with the problems. The broken body of a female werewolf washed up on my doorstep. What makes sweat pool at the base of my spine, though, is realizing the scars she bears are identical to the ones I conceal. After hiding for years, I've been found.

A protection I've been relying on is gone. While my wolf traits are strengthening steadily, the loss also left my mind vulnerable to attack. Someone is ensnaring me in horrifying visions intended to kill. Clive, the sexy vampire Master of the City, has figured out how to pull me out, designating himself my personal bodyguard. He's grumpy about it, but that kiss is telling a different story. A change is taking place. It has to.

I'm a survivor. I'll fight fang and claw to protect myself and the ones I love. And let's face it - they have it coming.

Contains mature themes.

Great book

Strong woman who didn't let what happened to her keep her down. Kept moving fast enough to keep my interest.

Great story

A story of a survivor who triumphs over her own circumstances and personal demons, then goes on to kick butt and find love. Fantastic story, looking forward to book 2.

So good I just had to tell you about it.

I love Urban Fantasy but I am cursed by being super picky with what I like. Once I've listened to the best in the genre I struggle with listening to the rest. Then I discovered this gem and Oh wow what a treat! It has everything you would expect from standard UF all the troups are there, woven together by a master story teller. Seana pulls you in and takes you on an emotional journey with these characters who come off as both real and relatable with a deliciouly black sence of humor. This is all helped along by a stunning narration that perfectly captures the tone of the book. A must read for any UF fan!

Not for me

Author emphasises main character is a s/a survivor yet in the first few chapters this 24 y/o woman who was assaulted at night walking alone without a light or a weapon at 17 goes for a run. At night alone without a light or a weapon. This book is set in america where you can literally buy a taser or gun in your weekly grocery shop but ok. Besides which, that’s not how any woman behaves let alone one who’s survived an assault.
The author explains over and over the m/c doesn’t like to be touched, looked at or seen as vulnerable, wears baggy clothes to be less sexual & doesn’t trust men, yet straight after, enjoys being stared at by a vamp, waxes lyrical about how hot he is and how his accent rots her brain and then let’s her male demon employee stare at her rack because he “enjoys making her uncomfortable” and then in the next sentence says he’s a nice guy. All her employees appear to be male. For someone who doesn’t trust men that’s an interesting hiring policy.
Straight after being attacked Miss No-Touchy enjoys physical contact with the vamp.
Can’t let her necklace out of her sight long enough for it to be fixed and wants to sit in the workroom with the jeweller, and in the next sentence leaves the whole ass store & swans off to get a coffee and go for a walk 5 minutes after saying she wasn’t comfortable in her own city and felt like she was being watched. Happily tells a male stranger werewolf she’s a lone she wolf 5 seconds after saying male werewolves have savage in their DNA and see loner she wolves as easy prey. And that’s just the first 5 chapters. I couldn’t bear anymore. There is only so much I can suspend my disbelief for the sake of making the plot work. This ain’t it. Sorry.
