Publisher's Summary

Sam Crud is a private investigator south of Los Angeles in the fictitious city of Oceánico Beach. From his loft apartment behind the classic hotel the Paraíso Oceánico situated on the Pacific Ocean, Sam handles adventurous and dangerous cases for his clients. He also works the Paraíso Oceánico’s security under the cantankerous Colonel John Aloysius Crocker.

His assortment of colorful friends includes Sergeant Nick "Marty" Martin, Woody, and Byron "Bad" Cody. They hang out at the Club Mediterranean and the Back-Door Pub and along the beach itself. Crud drives a 1966 blue Corvette and is often forced into high speed chases, sometimes with his girlfriend Maura "Queenie" McGonigal, a local TV reporter.

Who was Al Compton? Sam Crud is awakened by Woody to a gruesome murder at the Oceánico Beach marina. A potential client, Meagan Stoller, Al Compton’s sister, is requesting a client, according to Marty. Sam meets her and takes the case. Stoller disappears, and Sam’s friend Lucy is murdered, sending Sam and Queenie - with the help of their friends - on a wild investigation to find why Al Compton was murdered.
