When you let go, you live intuitively. Everything flows, because you are no longer attached to things being a certain way, to being a certain person or always being right. What a relief. The irony is that when you feel stuck in any area of your life - career, relationships, purpose, health or money - letting go can seem very hard. You cling on for dear life just at the moment you need to take the leap. In The Power of Letting Go, John Purkiss explains why we should let go and how we can do it, using proven techniques to make things happen.

Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

The water exercise that changed my life!
- By amber-lou1990 on 09-08-2023
Publisher's Summary
Learn to love yourself by rewiring your brain with this accessible guide from the bestselling author of Be Bold and host of Do You F*cking Mind? podcast.
Thoughts and moods are chemical reactions in your brain that you might think you are powerless to control. But modern science has shown beyond doubt that changing your behaviour and thought patterns can rewire the neurological pathways of your brain to literally change how you think, feel and view yourself.
In The Neuroscience of Self-Love, Alexis Fernandez-Preiksa takes the theory out of neuroscience and gives you practical tools and exercises to create a new self that is happier, more balanced and less dependent on others for validation. By re-engineering your habits, optimising your decision-making, curbing negative thoughts and harnessing the power of exercise and meditation, you will become more centred, connected and creative, and learn how to trust, prioritise and truly love yourself.

An easy reading book- the concepts were simple
I enjoyed the simplicity of the book but I didn't get any deep and thorough learnings from it. The concepts were very simple with brief "scientific " explanations to back up her main point each chapter. The exercises were good for hitting the surface and then thats where they'd end. If this is your first book on self love then it may be a great introduction for you but if not, I wouldn't recommend it.

Nothing new...
If you are looking for a fairly short and basic lesson on how the brain works, this is suitable. The second half tells you about routine, and exercise and Journaling etc and how they will help you feel better - nothing new and not told in a particularly interesting way. Some humour.
