Expected more mysticism
It is okay, but to me it is a little dry or factual. I expected it to delve more into Marie's character, and to explain Marie's Voodoo beliefs, and how they contrasted with antebellum New Orleans. From what I understand there is a lack of information regarding this side of her life, but its inclusion I believe would improve the book's entertainment value. The narrator is good. A good solid read, but no shooting stars here.
