Story
It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Quirky story narrated really well
The story isn’t overly complicated and the end of the book is more the end of an episode than of a stand alone book, but I liked it enough to invest in book two. The narrator has a great manner and plays the characters well (I listened at 1.2 speed though as at normal speed it is perhaps a little slow). All in all a bit of easy escapism.

fun, witty and entertaining.
loved this light hearted story. it is very entertaining easy to follow with lots of retribution coming to the ugly sadistic antagonists. the varied characters give depth and amusement to the fun plot.

Excellent Performance and Engaging Story
I've been listening to a lot of Book 1s recently - the first part of Fantasy series - and all have been okay, but nothing to really write home about.
Then there's this book!
Firstly, the performance is probably the best I've heard in some time. Brilliant acting, comedic timing, a sense of character in each person.
Secondly. the story - it's good, deceptively simple, then not simple, then we go for a ride! Around the 10 hour mark I felt the who dunnit element wasn't very strong and maybe a bit drawn out. but apart from that the characters are great, the interactions are fresh and sometimes surprising, with additions of humour and introspection.
A surprisingly good listen - I'm off to listen to Book 2, for the first time in ages!
Also. very nice production. The takes are indistinguishable, the narrator obviously felt comfortable, and the overlap engineering is very good. Top work!

Great narration of a fireside story
Really enjoyed the story with a great narrator to bring it together. Could just imagine sitting by the fireside on late winter nights listening to the story unfold. Medieaval whodunit mixed with fantasy. Looking forward to the next one.

More fun than I expected
The only problem with this audiobook is that it is the beginning of a series and this one doesn’t have much of an ending. I did enjoy it though and will probably listen to the next one

Gravedigger serf interned with CSI Miami
Gravedigger with an abusive alcoholic father is apparently very knowledgeable about forensic sciences and has an advanced medical degree in doing autopsies on dead bodies. It's a bit of "a wizard did it" special talent that makes no sense and is really worldbreaking. This is a shame since apart from that I really like the story and the concept. the demons aspect is very interesting and I could otherwise really get into it.
good as a freebook but I likely won't be continuing the series
