Story
No matter where we are in life, we all have a gap. It's the space between our current reality and our untapped, unrealized potential. Our work, if we are to be of the best service to ourselves, our families, and the rest of the world, is to close that gap a little more every day. These are the principles I employed that took me from being a broke and broken valet at 40, to just a handful of years later becoming a successful entrepreneur, author, and world-renowned dog trainer. By closing the gap in knowledge, we can close the gap in potential.

Story
In Your Dog Is Your Mirror, dog trainer Kevin Behan proposes a radical new model for understanding canine behavior: a dog’s behavior and emotion, indeed its very cognition, are driven by our emotion. The dog doesn’t respond to its owner based on what the owner thinks, says, or does; it responds to what the owner feels. And in this way, dogs can actually put people back in touch with their own emotions.

Story
Living with a reactive dog can accidently create a reactive person and a cycle of negative experiences begin. There is an answer though! With understanding comes positive change. It might not have always been this way; perhaps walking once triggered positive emotion. Maybe we were happy until something specific happened; for example, we met someone with an unfriendly dog that attacked ours or made them really scared. We, too, could have felt scared, then that fear grew over the next few walks, until we felt it the moment we saw another dog in the distance.

Story
Parlez-vous Doggish? At long last, dogs will know just how smart their owners can be. By unlocking the secrets of the hidden language of dogs, psychologist Stanley Coren allows us into the doggy dialogue, or "Doggish", and makes effective communication a reality. Drawing on substantial research in animal behavior, evolutionary biology, and years of personal experience, Coren demonstrates that the average house dog can understand language at about the level of a two-year-old human.
Publisher's Summary
After working with thousands of dogs with leash aggression, dog aggression, human aggression, resource guarding, separation anxiety, and overall troublesome behavior, world-renowned trainer Sean O’Shea, owner and founder of The Good Dog Training and Rehabilitation; saw some recurring themes consistently derailing the human/dog relationship. Sean discovered that countless trainers and owners were struggling to not only understand these issues but more importantly, to put clear, concise, easy-to-understand words to them.
The Good Dog Way: Love Them by Leading Them, fills that incredibly important gap. Until its release, dog training books almost exclusively focused on training mechanics, commands, and rules, but had missed the all-important "why".
Why were we struggling?
Why were we making the same mistakes over and over?
Why were our dogs a mess?
Something big was indeed missing, and without this critical piece, the foundational "why" underneath it all, even the best training and coaching practices were still struggling. Pouring several years into compiling, writing, and re-writing, he crafted a training book like no other. A book which clearly articulated how our human emotional tendencies, intellectual misconceptions, as well as a lack of understanding of our dog's true needs, were deeply sabotaging our best intentions. A book which offered simple, but profound answers for these struggles.
Note: This book is based on a balanced approach and philosophy to dog training. Its focus is on practical, realistic, and most of all, effective training. If the idea of sharing consequences with your dog for poor or dangerous choices; or if using modern, effective, and humane tools such as prong or e-collars is not in alignment with your beliefs, then this is likely not the right audiobook for you.
