Publisher's Summary

Mental illness is on the rise. It can affect people of any gender, age or background. When it strikes, it can be devastating, and it can be very difficult for families and friends to know what to do. Meanwhile, the sufferer can be completely oblivious to the pain and destruction they’re causing. They’ll push away the people who most sincerely want to help.

My particular mental illness was brought on by the excessive use of cannabis. It seemed harmless enough at the time and I thought I knew the risks. Then, I had my first psychotic episode. My life nosedived from there. My physical health, close relationships and career all became ruins. I’d become one of the one in seven people severely mentally allergic to cannabis. Time heals all wounds, which is why patience is so vitally important in recovery. I wrote this book so that you can better understand what it’s like living with schizophrenia.
