Story
Reframing aging as "a passage of discovery and engagement", Palmer says, "Old is just another word for nothing left to lose, a time to take bigger risks on behalf of the common good." On the Brink of Everything is not a "guide to" or "handbook for" getting old. Instead, it's Palmer turning the prism of insight on his experience as a way of encouraging listeners to do the same with theirs. In elegant prose and lyrical poetry, he offers a set of meditations on the meanings of one's life - past, present, and future.

Story
When you take the most absurd parts of history, science, economics, and geography, you end up with a pretty confusing picture of humanity. Why do we have borders? What's the furthest you can get from the ocean? And why did Vikings wear those silly helmets? These are just a few of the strange questions that bounce around the head of Joseph Pisenti. In his YouTube channel, Pisenti presents illogical truths in a logical manner. Here, he builds on this nonsensical humor of the universe with in-depth analysis of empires, economies, and ecosystems as he helps answer the ridiculous.
Publisher's Summary
To apply a Buddhist viewpoint to relationships is eye-opening. It points to a radically different worldview, one that runs counter to the spirit of much of the conventional advice we receive.
Broken hearts, resentment, affairs, divorce. Why is it so hard to make relationships work? New York Times best-selling author and mindfulness expert Susan Piver applies classic Buddhist wisdom to modern romance, including her own long-term relationship, to show ancient philosophies have timeless - and unexpected - wisdom on how to love.
The Four Noble Truths of Love will challenge the expectations you have about dating, sex, and romance, liberating you from the habits, traumas, and expectations that have been holding back your relationships. This mindful approach toward love will help you open your heart fearlessly, deepen communications with your partner, increase your compassion and resilience, and lead you toward a path of true happiness.
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain: expansive, real love for yourself and others.
“One of the most exquisitely wise - and comforting - relationship books I've ever read. The Four Noble Truths of Love is a lighthouse for the beautiful, murky mess of intimacy; one of those keepers that you wear out and gift to every friend and say, ‘This will help.’ This book has permanent residency on my bedside table so I can keep coming back for Susan’s compassionate reminders: that we are inherently good and our capacity to love is indestructible.” (Danielle LaPorte, author of The Desire Map and White Hot Truth)

Nice to have, not have to have
Many of us wish that it was so easy to meditate and think all your relationship issues away and whilst it's honourable to practice caring kindness whilst living mindfully and the link to the noble truths is a valid one it might be understandable that critical thoughts arise when further assessing the possibility to come to terms with deeper rooted issues or the struggles with regards to living somewhere inconvenient for the sake of complying with one's partners career choices or tapping into meditation to radically changing one's feelings about the other when there conflict or despair.
