Stop walking on eggshells, third edition

The book I needed to understand my son's behaviour and why I always reacted to him the way I did. Gave me strategies to manage my frustrations and to support him with love. Acknowledging his fears has changed the way I speak to him

life-changing

When you love someone with BPD it can be terrifying at times and very hard to explain the experience with others. This book gave me the perspective and tools to understand my experiences and keep myself safe. The book also represents people with BPD as whole people and helped me reconcile the fact that I can maintain boundaries whilst also loving someone with the condition. I also appreciate that the authors understand the severity and don't mess around, they tell you the specifics of what to say and do in many extreme situations (threats of suicide when breaking up, false legal accusations, violence, etc). So often these situations are presented as impossible to navigate, but the book makes it clear that you can. If you love someone with BPD I couldn't recommend this book more.

Thank you for this book

I am so glad that I found this book. I feel it has given me the tools and advice to help me deal with my partner who has BPD. I am grateful that I now know that I am not alone and am actually one of the lucky ones, as my husband is trying so hard to fix himself and together we are working on making him better. ❤️

Frames BPD/ NPD sufferers like another species..

While I don't doubt wholesome intentions on behalf of the authors, the framing of this book is horrible.. It divides people into 'us' and 'them'. 'They' are monsters, and 'we' are the victims of their outbursts and atrocities. It doesn't so much promote understanding, as suggest we learn coping strategies and create mental barriers to shield ourselves from these broken people in our lives. Or abandon them, for our own emotional safety..

If you have any baseline of empathy or emotional intelligence, this book probably isn't for you. If you want a book to encourage your feelings of victimhood at the hands of an NPD/ BPD sufferer.. read on..
