Story
Valentine Layton, the Duke of Malvern, has twin problems: literally. It was always his father’s hope that Valentine would marry Miss Arabella Tarleton. But, unfortunately, too many novels at an impressionable age have caused her to grow up...romantic. So romantic that a marriage of convenience will not do and after Valentine’s proposal she flees into the night determined never to set eyes on him again. Arabella’s twin brother, Mr. Bonaventure “Bonny” Tarleton, has also grown up...romantic. And fully expects Valentine to ride out after Arabella.

Story
Jem begins to track down the people who were there the night Toby died – a close circle of friends once known as the ‘Seven Wonders’ for their charm and talent – only to find them as tormented and broken as himself. All of them knew and loved Toby at Oxford. Could one of them really be his killer? As Jem grows closer to uncovering what happened that night, his pursuer grows bolder, making increasingly terrifying attempts to silence him for good. Will exposing Toby's killer put to rest the shadows that have darkened Jem’s life for so long? Or will the gruesome truth only put him in more danger?

Sometimes I want to punch that smirk off Atlas McCallister's pretty face. He's cocky. A troublemaker. A pain. And, unfortunately, my stepbrother. We've been fire and kerosene since our parents got together, and to keep from exploding into fistfights, we've used challenges, dares, and bets to battle out our differences. He proposed . . . and I said yes. Normally a jovial occasion for a couple in love, but this proposal has a very different feel. Because the man that I'll be calling my husband blew into town with one thing on his mind . . . to make my life a living nightmare. So why did I say yes? Well, because we both need something from each other. Namely, I want the farm land he currently owns, and he needs a wife in order to inherit his family cabin in his grandfather’s will. So as he so eloquently put it, my hand, for his land.

Slow slow burn

Publisher's Summary
From the USA Today bestselling author of Boyfriend Material comes a riotous Regency romp full of art, expensive hats, and a love that is nothing short of spectacular.
Peggy Delancey’s not at all ready to move on from her former flame, Arabella Tarleton. But Belle has her own plans for a love match, and she needs Peggy’s help to make those plans a reality. Still hung up on her feelings and unable to deny Belle what she wants, Peggy reluctantly agrees to help her woo the famous and flamboyant opera singer Orfeo.
She certainly doesn’t expect to find common ground with a celebrated soprano, but when Peggy and Orfeo meet, a whole new flame is ignited that she can’t ignore. Peggy finds an immediate kinship with Orfeo, who’s just as nonconforming as she is—and just as affected by their instant connection.
They’ve never been able to find their place in the world, but as the pair walks the line between friendship, flirtation, and something more, they may just find their place with each other.
Critic Reviews
“Robyn Holdaway's delightful performance shines throughout the second installment of this queer Regency-era romance series.… Holdaway's thoughtful portrayals enliven a range of personalities across social classes.… Listeners hear Peggy's and Orfeo's roiling emotions as the couple explores their relationship. Entertaining and affirming, this audiobook delivers healthy doses of cheeky humor and steamy encounters. Holdaway captivates from start to finish.” —AudioFile Magazine
“Of particular appeal to the LGBTQ community, narrator Robyn Holdaway's storytelling skills are perfectly suited to bringing Something Spectacular to life in an extended 'theatre of the mind' experience from start to finish.” —Midwest Book Review
“Hall is explicitly claiming and making space in the historical romance subgenre for queer people to be main characters on their own terms. Peggy and Orfeo’s tender friendship and romance shows that queer people do not need to justify or explain their presence or identities to find love and that love, in some form or fashion, is for everyone.” —Kirkus Reviews

Certainly Spectacular
I'd written a long and thoughtful review which got lost in the system somewhere so I'll summarise by saying another terrific write and read by Alexis Hall and the narrators which grace his marvellous books.
Extensive and diverse queer rep continues with another beloved coupling and returns from found family within the Something Fabulous universe... I hope we get a HEA for Sir Horley next.

So wonderful and uplifting
I cannot express how much I enjoyed this book. The characters are sensitively written and the integration of modern ideas and terminology enhance rather than detract. Alexis Hall is becoming an increasingly skilled writer and articulates the beauty of love irrespective of gender identity and preference in a way that makes my heart sing. A must read!
