Publisher's Summary

The brand new thriller in the Sunday Times best-selling series

As it often did since he'd married a cop, murder interrupted more pleasant activities. The again, Roarke supposed, the woman lying in a pool of her own blood a few steps inside the arch in Washington Square Park had a heftier complaint.

When a night out at the theatre is interrupted by the murder of a young woman in Washington Square Park, it seems like an ordinary case for Detective Eve Dallas and her team. But when Roarke spots a shadow from his past in the crowd, Eve realises that this case is far from business as usual.

Eve has two complex cases on her hands - the shocking murder of this wealthy young mother and tracking down the shadow before he can strike again, this time much closer to home. Eve is well used to being the hunter, but how will she cope when the tables are turned? As Eve and the team follow leads to Roarke's hometown in Ireland, the race is on to stop the shadow making his next move....

JD Robb (aka Nora Roberts) no 1 fan

Loved it as always. Could NOT put in on pause as ,she always does, got me enthralled in not only the story but the characters as well. Literally had me crying and angry (the killing of the innocent cat named Sweetie) and fearful as well that it was the last time I would hear of Galahad. Laughing at the banter between Eve and Roarke as well as many of the other prominent characters.

Am now waiting anxiously and in anticipation of the next enthralling story of these wonderful characters and hope there are many more to come.

P.S. I am an avid fan of Nora Roberts/JD Robb and have been reading books written by her since she was being published by Mills and Boon. I also have 4 DVDs that are movies made from 4 of her stories and would like to know if there are any others. I also wish that the in death series were made into a TV series along the lines of midsomer murders, law and order etc as I think millions of fans would tune in to see these characters brought to life on the screen as well as in the books.

Very badly edited

Have always enjoyed this series. But, this is the worst editing I have ever come across. Cutting off mid paragraph and picking back up again mid paragraph somewhere else. Completely confusing the story. several times I went back in the story thinking I had hit a skip button. Extremely disappointed.

Such a fun, dramatic and entertaining plot.

2023 AUDIBLE REVIEW
So good listening in audible.
Such a fun, dramatic and entertaining plot.
UPDATED BOOK REVIEW 2021
Great story and having everyone supporting Roarke, what felt like the whole NYPSD, Dennis and Mira, even his admin Caro, was great.
Loved Eve settling in to dinner with Summerset after an upsetting event.
An Didean opens and that was uplifting amidst the personal turmoil.
Loved having everyone end up in Ireland.
And once again there are too many errors for a book at this price. One statement was actually written in the wrong tense, totally changing the meaning.
I have owned most of these books, the first half mainly, in paperback for years and have read the ones since through my library. But I now have them all in eBook format, so I am rereading this series once again in order, updating and replacing missing reviews.
Even knowing what is in the future and what is going to happen, it is absolutely no hardship to reread this series and I am really enjoying how all the characters are growing and changing.
I just think it may be time for something really happy to happen. An engagement, a wedding, just something really human and normal.
There is so much sadness in this series at times, always due to the distasteful nature of the human beast, or beasts, that our gang have to deal with.
BOOK REVIEW
What a wonderful read, I couldn’t put it down.
The tension and pure enjoyment factor were great.
Starts off with a murder as usual for Eve, which was a very sad death but then a shadow from Roark’s past shows himself.
The whole aspect and how this flowed was entertaining.
Having everyone, from Commander Whitney down, being behind them both was fantastic.
We even get a very nice social interaction between Eve and Summerset.
Read through my library.

Great Fight

Eve is still ordering people around in that rude aggressive way! She hardly ever ‘asks’ anyone to do anything. The narrator has really got to tone it down.
However, the fight with Roarke and Cobb was a beauty!

Repaired copy

After a false start with a problematic down load( chapters and part chapters missing) and a call to customer service, and redownloading I managed to listen from start to finish with all chapters intact. The story as usual was great in line with all of in death series.

One of the best

This was a beautiful story in Viking both the past and the present the holder skelter of New York and the beauty of island. It comes full circle in a way that is both thought-provoking and has a realistic sense of family and connection. The only criticism I would have is the editing which seems to have cut several sentences or even parts of chapters out of the book. At one point there’s a chapter that ends mid sentence and clearly when the story restarts there is a whole patch that is missing. I believe that may have happened more than once in the story, other than that I really really loved a lot about it. As usual the relationship between both the main characters and side characters are well executed and interesting, the loyalty of the police to their own and how they embrace someone who was once on the opposite side to them but it’s become one of them, it is really well done and nice to read.

Amazing

Another amazing JD ROBB book. This was my first in death audiobook and after reading the reviews I was worried about missing parts of the story but I think Amazon has fixed the issues as nothing was missing or being skipped.
