Story
The friendship starts with a letter...from aspiring writer Sarah to blunt but witty journalist Helen, complaining about Helen's most recent book review. And there begins a correspondence that blossoms into a friendship which spans over two decades. As the years pass, the women exchange details of loves lost and found, of family joys and upheavals. Sarah's letters filled with thoughts on her outwardly perfect marriage and her aching desire for children, and Helen's on the struggle of raising her young daughter alone.

Story
Lou is reeling from a triple whammy of shocks that have left her loveless, jobless and almost homeless. Staying for a night with an old friend in the Cotswold village of Foxwell, she lends a helping hand to a spectacularly ungrateful older man with a reputation in the village for being a 'character'. When Edgar makes a suggestion that would solve two out of three of Lou's problems in one fell swoop, it's hard to resist. Especially as the return to the village of the very attractive Remy—not that he's even noticed Lou!—makes it an unusually appealing place to live.

Hard to get into, but worth the wait
Now maybe it was my head-space, but I felt that this book took a little while for me to “get” the characters. Not all with Cath Kelly, I’m straight in, 100% invested. Once I fell for the scratchy Carrie and stopped hating on Bess, it was a lovely ride. Thank you as always, what you do is freaking amazing.
Ps. I loved the inside knowledge about being an editor and the commitment needed to get the authors across the line!!!!

Wearisome
I tried my best with this book, but gave up on chapter 11. To much description and flitting from one character to another and time zone with no coordination. I could not really get into the story
I hate giving up on a book as it is a waste of money and Audible are not generous with their return system.

Hard to follow
A tricky listen, a lot of characters with no distinction in performance by the narrator between characters which means you need to focus intently and not just enjoy it. A bit of an empty plot and storyline.
